It has been a rough year for MediaDefender and their parent company ArtistDirect. This September nearly 700mb of MediaDefender’s emails leaked to the public. Initially it didn’t seem to affect the stock price much, but after the financial consequences became apparent, their net worth plunged.

The RIAA is allegedly pushing out a video news release this holiday that warns of the dangers of piracy… and encourages ringtone and iTunes purchases. Some stations are already airing it.

The IE dev team has reported that Internet Explorer 8 will pass the Acid 2 test. Acid 2 tests a browser to see if it passes W3C web standards . Currently Opera and Safari pass Acid 2 and Firefox 3 will pass Acid 2. This will be great news to all web designers and will hopefully end hacks for IE to make websites work correctly.

Dell is releasing Ubuntu 7.10 on a laptop and desktop today and with it, Dell will include DVD playback capability. ZOMG DVD Playback? I guess it’s nice linux is getting a little limelight but they make it look so “elementry”.
