ICANN Adds IPv6 to Root DNS Servers

dns_small.pngICANN has started to switch some of the root DNS servers to support IPv6. This is one more step in moving from IPv4 to IPv6. I wonder how much longer we will need to wait for ISPs to switch over.

I don’t know, I am sort of weary of it because this may give a chance for ISPs to easily implement new things that they want and since a lot of people don’t know much about IPv6 it will be hard to tell whats happened.

ISPs can always translate IPv6 down to IPv4 for its customers. Maybe then it would be something you would call and request IPv6 if you want it.

I’m really not a fan of IPv6. It’s much more difficult to remember an IPv6 address. If we had an amazing DNS system, that would make it so I never had to remember an IP address, I might be more inclined to support it.
