Unlike AT&T, Verizon won’t monitor its network to block unauthorized copying. That would violate customer privacy, it says, and would be expensive too.
Drivers would have to prepay their tolls, based on the estimated number of miles they expected to drive. Those who drove fewer miles than estimated would get no refund; those who drove more would be charged for the overage at a higher rate. The AT&T-approved Apple iCar would be limited to a top speed of 30 mph.
In a move that has executives from movie studios and record labels grinning from ear to ear, AT&T has announced that it will develop and deploy technology that will attempt to keep pirated content off its network.
