Adobe CS4 Betas Start

The betas for Dreamweaver CS4, Soundbooth CS4, and Fireworks CS4 are now out. CS4 will better integrate the programs Adobe acquired from Macromedia into the rest of the Creative Suite. Soundbooth also now supports multi-track aditing. Head on over and try out Dreamweaver, Soundbooth, and Fireworks.

WordPress 2.6 to support Google Gears

WordPress 2.6 SVN has a new feature called Speed Up! It will use Google Gears to to locally cache images, scripts and stylesheets to speed up load times. I hope by final it will support using the admin fully offline since using a plugin just to cache some images and scripts doesn’t really seem worth it.

Firefox 3 Feature Complete Beta Headed Your Way

The final alpha of Firefox 3 was released to developers today. After this Mozilla’s roadmap calls for the release of beta 1 on July 31st which will be the first feature complete version of the next generation Firefox browser.

Windows Home Server Beta 2

I have using Windows Home Server Beta 2 for the past few weeks now and its pretty leet. Microsoft has made a fairly easy yet powerful server OS that most users should be able to figure out. It took awhile to install ( over 2 hours ) but I blame that on the beta. Home Server makes it easy to share files over a network and to backup multiple computers. After installing and setting up the server, you run an app on each computer you want to connect to the server and it will take care of adding it to the server for you. It has an auto disk management that will take care of duplication ( software RAID ) and defrag. I can even have my 360 connect to it and get photos, music, and videos off the server. The only issues so far are you can’t add users with no passwords ( means I can’t add my parents comp ) and it has a few stability issues. I would love to see vidcast/podcast support ( I currently use Democracy Player to download vidcasts and then share them for my 360 ) built into the OS and some kind of media conversion. The screenshots below are from the console app which lets you remotely control the server.

Based off what I have seen so far, Windows Home Server is off to a good start and after some tweaking and maybe a couple new features and it will make for a nice OS.

MS announced two new ways to get into the Halo 3 beta. The first is to buy a specially marked copy of Crackdown. The other is to play 3 hours of Halo 2 multiplayer on Live between Feb. 1 and Feb. 3 and then register at Halo3.com

The public beta is only scheduled to start some time in the Spring of 2007, but now is the time to get in on it.
